We’re delighted to welcome a new member to our team, administrative assistant and former Post Office employee Lynette Lawry.
Lynette, who lives in Caldicot, joined our team in July, replacing our colleague Nesta, who plans to spend more time with her family. And, after making an impression on staff and customers alike, we’d say Lynette’s settled into her new role ‘post’ haste!
Lynette, from Caldicot, was looking for a new challenge after taking voluntary redundancy at the end of last year. She said: “I worked in the Post Office headquarters in Bristol for 20 years. When the chance to take redundancy came up, I took it, but I hadn’t planned to stop working so soon and missed the routine. I heard about this job through Kay, who’s a friend of a friend, and here I am!
“It’s been lovely and the complete opposite of what I’m used to. It’s more laid back and I love working with the team here. I was quite senior in the Post Office and did a lot of training, whereas now I’m enjoying meeting customers face to face and chatting to them on the phone.”
Lynette, who enjoys keeping fit, travel, music and spending time with friends and family – including her partner, two grown-up children and two adorable grandchildren, Daisy and Ella – is now looking forward to getting to know our customers and helping them access all the benefits of a Plutus Health plan, which offers money back for routine health appointments such as dental and optical treatments, physiotherapy and lots more.
Lynette said: “I’ve got a lot of experience behind me and I’m very loyal, so I hope to bring that to the role. I think I’m friendly and helpful and it’s definitely that sort of job! Sometimes it just takes two minutes for someone to listen, and the customers do appreciate that.”
